ADOPT A PEOPLE GROUP - American churches are taking the gospel to places where there is no other missionary presence. Your congregation too can become an Engaging or Partnering Church by adopting an unreached people group in a third world country, sharing with them the gospel message and planting churches. The Engaging Church becomes the “missionary”, who takes on the responsibility of doing whatever is needed to ensure that the “Good News” will be made available to their adopted people group. It is their ultimate responsibility to develop and implement a plan fulfilling the Great Commission among their people group. The Partnering Church is different in that it works alongside an existing missionary team or Engaging Church to help advance evangelism and church planting on that team’s focus people group. The Partnering Church can commit to reach a segment of the focus people group that is currently not being engaged or it can help to implement a certain strategy for the team.
EVANGELIZE THRU STORYING - This is an opportunity for you to join a “go team” and take your faith to an unreached people group at what may very well seem to be the edge of the world, truly acting out the Great Commission by going to the uttermost. The “go team” will learn the Creation to Christ (C2C) story and certain members of the team may wish to learn some other stories to put in the teams itinerary such as the 10 commandments, the meeting of Jesus and Nicodemus and the Good Person Test. Storying is a common method used to communicate among many third world country people groups and translators are used to present your message in their native tongue. Storying is a mandatory tool used when churches choose to adopt a people group. It allows the chosen people group to visualize and have a better understanding of the gospel message.
CHURCH PLANTING – This is the outcome of adopting a people group and evangelizing through storying. It is a laboring process which results in the birth of a new Christian church among the people group adopted. Next to happen is discipleship and some basic lessons using the scriptures to give instructions on how to set up and maintain a healthy growing church body, this required for these new babes in Christ. Consequently this new church body will now go and plant another church where then 2 become 4 and 4 become 8 until the entire people group is evangelized. To be rapid and successful the church planting comes from inside the people group after the original outside church plant has taken place.
WELLS FOR WATER – Drinking water is a luxury that most Americans have but do not think of it in that way. We turn on our faucet and right away we have clear, cool and clean drinking water from our well or city/town reservoir. This however is not true in most third world countries. Usually most all of the water comes from hand dug wells, springs, streams or government drilled wells. Much of this water can only be used for bathing and cleaning. But in many rural areas the population has no choice but to drink water from unsafe streams that have been contaminated by animals, children playing, women doing their laundry, people bathing, owners washing whatever mode of transportation they may have and human waste. So it is not surprising to see that wells for drinking water need to be drilled while telling them of the Living Water in which they will never thirst again. This is another great outreach ministry in humanitarian assistance.
CONSTRUCTIONS HELP PROJECTS – This type of ministry requires volunteers who are interested in building and remodeling or fixing up and repairing things. The volunteers will be led by a person with experience in the field and work alongside the people group that are being engaged. A bond and fellowship results in this relationship and the opportunities for evangelism are widespread. The projects range from the simple weaving of grass mats and walls in a village to installing shingles on a local hospital or business in a town or city. Being a handyman or someone with a little experience is a plus but it is not a requirement because anyone can be an extra hand and a witness for Christ.
AGRICULTURE, SHOW ME HOW TEAMS –Malnutrition runs uncontrolled in many if not most of the poverty stricken third world country people groups. Field teams provide life provisional teachings on “show me how” to do it better, as a result, there is a yielding of more nutritious and healthy food for these hunger victims. These lives contain some of the most fertile untouched soil for sowing and planting the whole council of God. This ministry requires volunteers who are willing to dig in the dirt alongside the people group being engaged, showing them a better way to plant, raise and harvest their food crops and to take the seize the opportunity to unearth their separation from God showing them how to receive the Bread of Life, never to hunger again.
DENTAL CARE CLINICS – Without proper nutrition available to the malnourished, the result is a low resistant immune system. This becomes evident in tooth decay. Dental clinics along with the distribution of food, toothbrushes, toothpaste and other dental supplies open many doors of opportunity to evangelize. Volunteers help alongside mission minded dentist while sharing the “good news” of the whole council of God, demonstrating the love of Christ in their heartfelt concern, love and compassion for the lost.
MEDICAL CARE CLINICS – Medical clinics, along with the distribution of food and medicine, open many doors of opportunity to evangelize to a lost and dying world that are sick both physically and spiritually. Doctors, Nurses, Medical Assistants, Pharmacists, Optometrists, EMT’s and other medical professionals and students team up with other volunteers in this humanitarian assistance ministry to fulfill the Great Commission. Only the sick both physically and spiritually need a physician. You have the knowledge for the cure of their disease.
